Hi, I'm Mikey.

Engineering Chaos is an independent publication launched in November 2024 by Mike Saxton.

I've spent twenty years watching American institutions fail the people they exist to serve. Sometimes from inside an ambulance. Sometimes from inside a boardroom. The view changes but the pattern doesn't.

This site documents that pattern - the deliberate gap between what our systems promise and what they deliver. Healthcare that bankrupts the healers. Support systems that abandon those who need support. Corporate structures that reward everything except the work that matters.

I write because I got tired of pretending these failures were accidents. They're not. They're engineered, optimized, and perfected over decades of institutional evolution.

Some people see broken systems and want to fix them. I just want to tell the truth about them - without the obligatory hope or manufactured silver linings.

The stories here come from lived experience across multiple systems. The perspective is mine. The chaos, unfortunately, is all of ours.

And of course, although the Supreme Court decided businesses are people, we still haven’t concluded that people aren’t businesses. So I’m legally required to remind you these thoughts are my own and don’t belong to any employer or anybody else.

You’re welcome to have them, though I’m not quite sure why you would.
